what is an earth altar?
An Earth Altar is a temporary art piece, created from natural materials (sourced from the act of foraging in nature). It can be built directly on the Earth, in a studio/sacred space, or your own bedroom/home.
You can work with your Earth Altar as a portal into the Earth, for you to channel your wishes, worries, prayers and gratitude, allowing yourself to connect deeply with the natural world and its energies, while exploring your unique creativity. Your Earth Altar can also be a powerful anchor point or centrepiece for ceremonies, gatherings and group events!
what is the purpose of an earth altar?
Creating Earth Altars in nature allows you to enter into a flow state, tap into your intuition and creativity, quieten a busy mind, calm the nervous system, discover the stillness inside of you and oscillate your heartbeat to the rhythm of the planet.
Experiment with mandala art in nature through Earth Altars with others to build a sense of belonging, shared intention and create space for meaningful connection where each person contributes their energy and creativity to something sacred.
When multiple people contribute to an Earth Altar, each bringing their unique essence, the collective energy becomes more potent. This can be especially powerful for group intentions, ceremonies, or communal prayers.
